Do you need a blog?

August 28th, 2007 by Sterling Hager

question markToday, users, customers and employees expect to get information from anywhere and to work from everywhere in the world. From everywhere, they want everything.

That being said, you cannot use blogs in an overtly promotional way. Use them to augment your status in the industry by offering true thought leadership. Be transparent and real; don't utilize them as ‘just another’ marketing channel.

The question is not whether or not you need a blog. Instead, the question is how can you make your website more dynamic? How can you keep up a conversation with visitors that makes the website more interesting, conversational and less static? Frequently updated content helps any website – and a great way to do it easily is via a blog. You want need something on your website beyond mere brochure ware, something that indicates you and your employees are alive. Seek out leadership voices and get anyone within your organization to add content who is an enthusiastic communicator.

Online media is the future, and change will come. An overnight overhaul isn’t expected or advised, but gradual adaptation to this new world will be a prerequisite for success. These technologies will drive how organizations communicate with customers and business partners now and in the future. And for many companies, these technologies will determine whether or not they are in business in five years.

Join the People’s Movement at Unity08.com

August 28th, 2007 by Sterling Hager

Thanks to an email and comment I received this morning (I would name names but the person didn't explicitly say I could divulge his or her identity) I found this site: Unity08.com

It is basically along the lines of what I was saying in this post and this post. I signed up.

Check it out. There are tons of stats and facts in support of anyone's notion that monkey-business-as-usual in Washington DC needs an overhaul and that election politics can be radically altered by average people participating online.

Out with Republicants and Demofats. In with Digital Nationalists

August 28th, 2007 by Sterling Hager

This is a continuation of my rant of yesterday. Yesterday was a call for a national digital online primary season and an Internet-driven general election. Today is a call for a new party… not a third party, but a first party, a digital online party, and a party that has the Nation first and foremost in mind versus conservative values or progressive values. I would call it the Nationalist Party. It's chief constituent would be America.
