You Must Be 13 Years Old or Older to Enter

This ought to tell you a couple of things about the new media era in which some of us now live. Cisco Systems — you know, that company that is the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet — is having a contest to gather the best new connectivity ideas out there from ordinary, imaginative people in the big wide world. Winner gets $10,000. I guess they've figured out there's some value to this sharing, networking, community-building free-for-all. And speaking of free, how bad is it when a corporation can get new ideas for virtually nothing.

But there is a catch. In fact, based on this rules excerpt below, if you're over 20 you may decide that you are just… well… a bit too old to compete:

The Cisco "Connected Life" Contest ("Contest" or "Promotion") is Sponsored by Cisco Systems, Inc. ("Sponsor" or "Cisco") and is open and offered only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and Washington D.C. ("U.S."), Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and Japan who are physically located in and currently residing in these countries, and are thirteen (13) years old or older at time of entry (eligible "Entrant").
