Few university and college systems have embraced social media wholeheartedly. Most have no online community presence. Among those that do, many of their efforts to date have resulted in disappointing outcomes.
There are reasons for this. Online social media sites require a lot of work. Two, many university systems are reluctant to engage their audience in conversation since it implies a loss of complete control. Some have used their blogs, for example, as nothing more than an additional advertising site by cutting off comments. Online communities thrive on tremendous content and variety, which some institutions have found difficult to sustain. We help you meet all of these issues and have proved that the outcome can be significantly more potent – at less cost in time, money and energy – than any single other messaging tactic you’re using today.

Some important cultural trends inform this decision by Dave and me to finally bite the reindeer's nose and, after years of resisting, decide to offer AgencyNext Gift Cards this year during the holiday season. Yes, now you can purchase from us a gift card, in any pre-paid denomination, good for an unlimited array of social media activities and consultations we'll perform for a PR peer or agency you admire or a marketing colleague you know is in need or a corporation that needs help big time.
Why this flip flop in policy, Grinch, you ask? First, of course, you probably saw our post a couple days ago about U.S. marketing professionals and their view of social media. Three-fourths of them think social media is a most important strategic opportunity, but hardly any of them are pouring any money into it. We wanted to give you a chance to help them out this time of year when charitable giving is in the air. Some cards are marketed as the gift solution for the person who has everything. Ours, in contrast, are for people who have nothing or know nothing in the way of social media solutions. Kind of unique, don't you agree?
Two, as noted in this article about Colonial Williamsburg's decision this year to offer gift cards, we learn that the International Council of Shopping Centers predicts gift cards will account for $80 billion in spending this holiday season. (Can that be right?)
Social Media Gift Cards from AgencyNext also seem to make sense this time of year because this is such a social period. People get together in person, chat, form relationships, contribute to one another's appreciation and understanding of things… so what better way to acknowledge the beauty of all that than with an AgencyNext Social Media gift card that will bring that sort of community warmth and wonder to the online world?
Let me be among the first to say Happy Holidays from all of us at AgencyNext to all of you… and… Operators are standing by.
