Here’s a new application for Facebook users: The College Planner from Embark. Users can utilize the application to see school information and what schools their friends are interested in – and to fill out their application to send to multiple schools simultaneously.
Students visit the FaceBook app (or Embark.com) to fill out a single profile which can be parsed out to applications. If the student picked from the 200 or so schools that are Embark partners, the app is filed instantly and electronically. But Embark will also auto-fill PDF versions for non-partner schools, if that school's application is made public.
“The aim is to relieve some of that stress and streamline the admissions process for students applying to undergraduate and graduate institutions by offering a network of fellow applicants, a research database of over 5,000 school profiles and online applications for some of the universities,” said Embark President Adam Park.
Now the College 2.0 game gets interesting…

Few university and college systems have embraced social media wholeheartedly. Most have no online community presence. Among those that do, many of their efforts to date have resulted in disappointing outcomes.
There are reasons for this. Online social media sites require a lot of work. Two, many university systems are reluctant to engage their audience in conversation since it implies a loss of complete control. Some have used their blogs, for example, as nothing more than an additional advertising site by cutting off comments. Online communities thrive on tremendous content and variety, which some institutions have found difficult to sustain. We help you meet all of these issues and have proved that the outcome can be significantly more potent – at less cost in time, money and energy – than any single other messaging tactic you’re using today.
